The heartbreaking loss of Rene Clert Baterbonia, a promising young Filipino basketball player, reminds us that every second matters during a life-threatening emergency. Rene tragically drowned during a team-building activity in June 2026. Public reports indicate that due to lack of proper training for the responding rescue team,  no resuscitation  efforts were attempted before he was transported to a hospital, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Project RENE seeks to transform grief into action.

Project RENE is built on a simple but powerful belief:

"We could not bring Rene back, but we can give others a better chance to survive."

Its mission is to ensure that schools, sports organizations, Hotels & Resorts, Barangay Halls, communities, and every place where people gather are prepared to respond to cardiac and drowning emergencies through:

  • Widespread CPR education for students, coaches, teachers, parents, and the public.

  • Increased access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

  • Development of organized Emergency Response Plans.

  • Public awareness that immediate CPR, early defibrillation when indicated, and rapid activation of emergency medical services are essential links in the Chain of Survival.

  • Building a culture where lifesaving skills are considered as important as athletic skills.

Project RENE does not seek to assign blame. Instead, it honors Rene's memory by helping ensure that future emergencies are met with confidence, preparation, and the right lifesaving tools.

Project RENE aspires to inspire communities throughout the Philippines and beyond to become truly Rescue Ready.

Because every life deserves a fighting chance.

Our Story

Healthforce's journey began in Davao City, Philippines in 2007, with the establishment of Healthforce Training Center Incorporated. Built on a passion for healthcare education and a commitment to saving lives, the organization dedicated itself to equipping healthcare professionals and communities with life-saving knowledge and skills.

In 2012, that vision expanded internationally with the launch of Healthforce USA. What started as a dream in the Philippines has grown into one of the leading CPR and emergency training organizations in the United States. Today, Healthforce USA is recognized as one of the Top 10 American Heart Association Training Centers in the United States, with 16 physical locations in 6 states, certifying approximately 30,000 individuals every year in CPR and advanced cardiovascular emergency courses.

As an official American Heart Association Training Center, Healthforce provides a full range of emergency cardiovascular care programs, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Heartsaver CPR AED, and First Aid courses. Through these programs, healthcare professionals, first responders, businesses, schools, and members of the community gain the confidence and skills to respond effectively during life-threatening emergencies.

Despite its success in the United States, Healthforce has never forgotten where its journey began. Returning to its roots in the Philippines has always been part of its mission—to give back to the community that inspired its vision. Through education, partnerships, and community outreach, Healthforce continues to promote the importance of CPR training, not only for healthcare providers but for every individual.

We believe that CPR is no longer just a certification or a workplace requirement—it is a life-saving skill that everyone should know. Cardiac emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere, and to anyone. Knowing how to recognize an emergency, respond quickly, and perform CPR can make the difference between life and death.

To further strengthen emergency preparedness, Healthforce Corporate was established as a distributor of world-renowned Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), representing trusted brands such as ZOLL, HeartSine, and Philips. From its headquarters in the United States, Healthforce is positioned to expand AED distribution throughout Asia, including the Philippines, helping make life-saving technology more accessible to schools, businesses, healthcare facilities, and communities.

Education remains at the heart of everything we do. To date, Healthforce has successfully developed and mentored more than 200 certified instructors in the United States and over 100 instructors in the Philippines, multiplying its impact through a growing network of educators dedicated to teaching others how to save lives.

Today, Healthforce continues to live by one mission:

To empower communities, prepare everyday heroes, and help save lives—one class, one instructor, and one heartbeat at a time.
